From shopping for local souvenirs and handicrafts, sightseeing and a city tour to more adventurous outings such as mangrove river and firefly cruise, fishing trips, or expedition to the caves and waterfalls, there’s never a dull moment in Cherating. Turtle sanctuary: About 6 km from Cherating is the famous Chendor Beach, where the Turtle Sanctuary is located. From early July to September, visitors can watch green turtles (or occasionally giant leatherback turtles) toil ashore to lay eggs at night. Night market in Chukai town: An experience through the local culture. An open market where the locals gather and market their agricultural and local products. A good place to try out the local delicacies and fruits.
